Resort "Kamchia" is located on the Black Sea, 25km south of Varna in the direction of Burgas. A paradise with a rare combination of forest, river and sea.
The beaches of Kamchia are wide and with large sand dunes
About 25 km south of Varna, in the lower reaches of the Kamchia River, between the resorts of Kamchia and Shkorpilovtsi, lies the Kamchia Biosphere Reserve. Because of its important nature conservation and ecological significance, in 1977 the reserve was included in the UNESCO World Network for the protection of the most representative ecosystems on the planet.
The reserve is located on the Kamchia Sands area, covering 842 hectares of forest at the mouth of the river. The forest is called "Longoz" and the aim of the reserve is to preserve its primary, natural form.
The Kamchi Longoz forest is a deciduous jungle that is home to over 245 higher plants, 258 bird species and 39 fish species.
The Via Pontica bird migration route also passes over the Kamchia reserve. It runs along the Black Sea coast, then over the Strandzha Mountains and the birds head for Africa.
The passage of people through the Kamchia reserve is only on marked trails.
It is obligatory to observe the mentioned rules.
